BioPak Strengthens Roots in the Daintree

In Business Partners, Canopy Awards, Conservation, Partnerships, Restoration, Supporters, Tree Planting

For over a decade, BioPak has been a proud Diamond Tier supporter of Rainforest Rescue, fostering a partnership rooted in a shared passion for environmental conservation and love of Nature. This long-standing collaboration continues to flourish, with BioPak’s CFO, Kim Jeanneret, recently visiting the Daintree to connect with the Rainforest Rescue team on site and in person.

Kim’s visit not only underscores BioPak’s dedication to providing financial support in tree planting and protection, but also their active participation in on-the-ground conservation efforts.

During their stay in the World Heritage Daintree rainforest, Kim and her partner Gavin met with CEO Branden Barber, Land Manager Hayden White and Seed Collector Ariel Simon, who guided them through our restoration site at NightWings. Over the years, BioPak has supported us to grow, plant and maintain thousands of the trees here in this critical biodiversity hotspot and essential wildlife corridor.

To symbolise this enduring partnership, Kim and Gavin, alongside Branden, Hayden and Ariel, together planted 100 native rainforest saplings. These trees, along with thousands of others at NightWings, are a testament to the shared vision of both organisations for a greener, more resilient and biodiverse planet.

We think it is pretty special to be able to say we planted trees as part of the restoration of the Daintree, regardless of how small the contribution was in the scheme of things it felt REALLY good.” – Kim Jeanneret, BioPak CFO

BioPak’s support for Rainforest Rescue has been hands-on from the beginning. Eight years ago, BioPak’s founder and Sustainability Director, Richard Fine, along with his family, made a special visit to the Daintree, donning their boots and gloves to personally plant trees at the Kurranji Bubu Nature Refuge. BioPak CEO, Gary Smith, and his family, also visited NightWings to experience this special investment first-hand.

“Knowing those trees are going to grow of course is awesome, but thinking about the wildlife it will attract and provide habitat for is even better. We also thought about carbon sequestration, these trees will help save our planet.” – Kim Jeanneret, BioPak CFO

As BioPak and Rainforest Rescue continue their journey together, this partnership remains a shining example of how conscious businesses can play a vital role in preserving our planet’s most precious ecosystems.

Businesses have been at the cutting edge, literally, in the extractive practices that have compromised the very systems that maintain life on Earth. Businesses like BioPak are now at the forefront of healing and repairing the damage done in the past, helping to create a movement that will see our planetary systems emerge whole and resilient once again. Working with BioPak, and companies like them, is inspiring and gives me tremendous hope.” – Rainforest Rescue CEO, Branden Barber
