#NextGenRainforestRescuer Nikita: Planting a Rainforest
#NextGenRainforestRescuers are a vibrant community of young conservation troopers who are making waves in the conservation of our natural world. From fundraising to tree planting, from making documentaries to educating peers, these young champions of the environment are creating change in diverse, impactful, and creative ways.
Today, we’d like to introduce you to #NextGenRainforestRescuer Nikita – a little legend with a passion for trees!
Nikita attended our 2024 Annual Community Tree Planting Day at NightWings with her mum, sister and some friends. It was her first planting day with us, and she got in touch after the event to thank us and provide some feedback.
“Me and my friends had an amazing time at the rainforest.
I loved the bushwalk because I found out more about the wildlife and the plants.
The morning tea was amazing (my favourite was the pizza pastry things).
We also learned more about electric ants and why they are bad.”
– Nikita
While Nikita got her hands dirty at our planting day, another seed was quietly growing – Nikita’s desire to actively help our natural world.
It was obvious to us that Nikita loved nature, but now she had realised that she could be the change she wanted to see – she could help our planet by being part of the solution. When we offered Nikita a feature in our blog as a Next Gen Rainforest Rescuer, she had this to say:
“I am so grateful for this and would love to help the environment more.
I’m going to Bali on the holidays, and I’ve found some amazing projects to help the beaches there.”
– Nikita
And it doesn’t stop there! Feeling super inspired after planting trees with us, Nikita has also since approached the principal of her school about holding a tree planting for her classmates.
Keep up the great work, Nikita! You’re destined for great things.
