#Next10 - 1 Down 9 to Go!

Thanks to generous supporters and fellow Rainforest Rescuers, we were able to reach the target for our December #next10 appeal and purchase the first rainforest property of our top 10 strategic and most vulnerable properties. This countdown towards rescuing vulnerable rainforest represents a huge achievement, and we couldn't have done this without the support of loyal supporters that are absolutely committed to Protecting Rainforest Forever.

Now we are keen to secure the next property on our list, #2. The value of this rainforest block cannot be underestimated. It provides healthy and dynamic habitat for all rainforest life forms. When the rains fall (which they do in abundance during the monsoon season), the intact rainforest acts as a filter ensuring that only fresh water runs into the all-important catchment and then onto the reef.

With 31 properties now protected in the Daintree, together we are creating a movement of well being and a future for this threatened and critically important rainforest, and a positive contribution towards the World Heritage values of both rainforest and reef.

We applaud your desire to protect rainforests forever. Sharing this goal makes all our combined efforts effective and meaningful. With a clear vision ahead of us, and the energy and enthusiasm to achieve this vision, we are positive about making a significant difference to rainforest conservation outcomes.

The #next10 campaign requires focus, resilience, and passion. It also demands good timing as these properties are on the market and threatened with development and clearing of their pristine rainforest. Please Act Now to ensure that we create a rainforest legacy for the future and for future generations to enjoy.  We hope that you are as keen as ever to continue this journey with us. We can't do this without you! Please support Rainforest Rescue's #next10 campaign by helping us to rescue the next piece of rainforest under threat, and Protect Rainforest Forever!

Of the 32 properties saved by you and fellow Rainforest Rescuers in Australia, 22 are protected with covenants stripping development rights and protecting them forever. In addition, two further properties have been gifted to the National Park. We are working with the Department of Environment and Heritage Protection to protect the remaining six properties by adding them to our family of Nature Refuges. The Rainforest Rescue Board have made a strong commitment to never sell off land for development, no matter what the short-term gain may be.

I know you care deeply about Australia’s unique rainforest, and want to ensure its conservation. It’s vital that we keep up the momentum and do all we can to protect the Daintree.
